The Discover Control Set provides students with an excellent introduction to control systems and allows them to control a series of five models by pressing buttons on the Control Box. The software allows students to write computer programs in easy to understand steps using a model and electronic devices that respond to every press of the buttons.
The teacher guide and lessons that will help you guide and facilitate student learning. Using K'NEX parts, the K'NEX Control Box and Discover Control Software with the direction provided in the guide, you will be able to offer students a program of study that uses hands-on exploration in conjunction with an engaging inquiry-based approach to learning as students build, program, investigate, and evaluate ideas. The activities provide opportunities for students to learn aspects of linear computer programming while investigating, discovering and applying STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) skills and knowledge.
The set comes complete with 336 K'NEX® parts, enough to build 5 models, one at a time, a K'NEX Control Box and software (with site license), motors, a buzzer, and LEDs. Grades 1 - 3. Building instructions and teacher's guide aligned to Science, Technology, Engineering and Math standards included. Packaged in a strong storage tub with snap-on lid.
STEM Education focuses on science, technology, engineering and mathematics concepts taught through problem-solving, discovery, exploratory learning and critical thinking. STEM Education requires students to be active participants in the learning. K'NEX® models offer hands-on learning opportunities that encourage scientific inquiry, investigation and experimentation. Our inquiry-based lessons challenge students as they build, investigate, problem solve, discuss, and evaluate scientific and design principles in action. Aligned to Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math standards.
